Meaning of Meletius

The name Meletius comes from the Μελέτιοςs  which means “fighter” Church father Bishop St. Meletius of Antioch, was born in Melitene in Lesser Armenia. He was first the bishop of Sebaste and then became Patriarch of Antioch. He was the teacher of St. John Chrysostom. He presided over the first session of Nicene Synod.
